As a travel and landscape photographer, I rely on gear that’s both powerful and lightweight. Especially when traveling by airplane, space and weight become critical. That’s why I carefully curate my setup to get the best results with the least amount of bulk. Here’s a breakdown of what I use:
Nikon Z6III
My main camera is the Nikon Z6III – a full-frame mirrorless camera that offers outstanding dynamic range, superb image quality, and excellent low-light performance. It’s compact and ideal for travel photography, yet powerful enough for professional work.
Aoka Carbon Tripod
Lightweight and strong, my Aoka carbon fiber tripod is perfect for long exposures, HDR shots, or any situation where stability is key. It’s compact enough to pack for road trips and durable enough for rugged conditions.
Filters: CPL and ND (Little Stopper and Big Stopper)
I carry a Circular Polarizer (CPL) to reduce reflections and enhance colors, especially for skies and water. My ND filters – the Little Stopper and Big Stopper – allow me to do long exposure photography even during daylight. These are checked in during flights due to their bulk.
Remote Shutter Release
This small but essential tool lets me trigger the shutter without touching the camera – perfect for long exposures or when using the tripod.
DJI Mini 4 Pro
My compact drone, the DJI Mini 4 Pro, provides stunning aerial perspectives. It’s lightweight, highly portable, and delivers great image quality – ideal for capturing dramatic landscapes from above.
DJI Pocket OSMO 3
When I want to shoot smooth handheld videos, especially behind-the-scenes clips or social media content, I use the DJI Pocket OSMO 3. It’s compact, foldable, and easy to carry even on hikes.
DJI RS3 Mini
This compact gimbal stabilizer is perfect for mirrorless cameras. I use it for cinematic video footage when traveling by car, where I can afford to bring more gear. Here you can get some additonal Information about it,
Nikon Z50
My camera for the DJI RS3 Mini is the Nikon Z50 – a smaller, crop-sensor mirrorless body. It’s a great backup and also lighter, making it ideal for casual shooting or time-lapse setups.
Packing Strategy
When flying, I pack everything up to the DJI Osmo 3 into my Peak Design Backpack, which is designed to be carry-on friendly and keeps my gear secure. The tripod and filters are checked in to save weight in my carry-on. When traveling by car, I take the entire list – no compromises.

Do it with me and jump over to my store. There are several eBooks and presets I have been working on over the past few years – no kidding, it took me quite some time to make all this happen! And I am still working on it, there is more to come!
