Paris never fails to impress. On my recent trip to the French capital, I was once again reminded of how patience often rewards photographers with the most magical moments. As the day slowly faded, the sky started to transform. At first, it was subtle – soft pastel tones brushed the horizon. But I’ve learned from many trips that sometimes the best light doesn’t come before sunset but after. So, instead of packing up my camera, I decided to wait a little longer to chase a sunset in Paris.
And it paid off. The sun dipped below the skyline, leaving behind an incredible canvas of golden hues, deep blues, and a gentle glow that wrapped the city in pure magic. Standing there, capturing this moment, I realized once more why Paris has such a special place in my heart – not only as a traveller but especially as a photographer.
What makes Paris even more attractive for me is how easily accessible it is. Living in Switzerland, it feels like the perfect city escape. Thanks to the high-speed train connection, it’s surprisingly simple to get there.
From Bern, you only need to change trains once in Basel, and just a few hours later, you arrive in the heart of Paris. No airport stress, no long security lines – just a comfortable journey straight into one of the most photogenic cities in Europe.
Paris offers endless photo opportunities: from the iconic Eiffel Tower and the charming streets of Montmartre to hidden cafés, bridges, and the romantic Seine River reflecting the city lights. But what always fascinates me most is how different the city feels depending on the time of day and the season. It’s a place where light plays such an important role in how you experience and capture the atmosphere.
This sunset photo I call “Chase a sunset in Paris” became one of my favorites from the trip – not because it’s the most spectacular view, but because it reminds me that sometimes, all it takes is a little patience and being present in the moment. And Paris? It’s always worth the wait.
Travel Tip: Book Early and Save
You’ve probably heard the saying, “The early bird catches the worm.” When it comes to booking trains, this couldn’t be more true. I’ve experienced it time and time again – the earlier I book, the cheaper the ticket. Waiting until the last minute almost never leads to a better price. In fact, it’s usually the opposite.
This isn’t just the case for international trains like those to Paris – it applies just as much to the Swiss Railways (SBB) as well. Whether you’re traveling within Switzerland or heading across borders, early bookings often come with significant savings. So if your travel dates are fixed, don’t wait. Book ahead, save money, and enjoy a stress-free journey knowing everything is sorted.
