The best times for coastal photography are during golden hour — shortly after sunrise or just before sunset. The soft, warm light adds depth and vibrancy to your photos. For dramatic skies and long shadows, consider shooting during a storm or on a cloudy day.
Use a Tripod
Coastal environments often present low-light conditions, especially at sunrise or sunset. A tripod is essential for stabilizing your camera and allowing for longer exposures, which can help you capture smooth, flowing water and detailed textures.
Long Exposures
To create a silky effect on the water and capture the movement of waves, try using a long exposure. A neutral density (ND) filter can help you achieve longer shutter speeds without overexposing the image. This is by the way what I have done to capture this photograph.
Protect Your Gear
