Composing
Composing is not an easy a topic to write about! If you search the web for composing tricks, you will find tons of information out there what not to do… I personally think that you should forget about the stupid rules there are!
Let me give you an example
One of the most often mentioned rules is that you should not have the horizon completely centered. I say, this is nonsense!
If it works, then it simply works. What I do not like in this picture is the way the mountain comes into the picture and goes out of; it is not really symmetric but I cannot really change that.
Over the time I have found out that it is not really the technology like the camera and the software that you have to understand to make a good picture – To me what you have to focus on train is the eye. This tool enables you in a first look about the composing of your Image.
Of course I later on go back home and start the image post process to increase the quality up my pictures but it all starts with your eyes before even knowing what the camera and software settings are and will be.
Summarized
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s (read earlier posts) second rule: Break the rules and do what is right for you. If you break the rules, you do what no one ever has done before and maybe your broken rules became the new standard rules to get broken!
