I’m currently exploring Colombia. I began my journey in Cartagena and have since travelled to numerous beautiful destinations! Although, many still think that traveling to Colombia is dangerous, I consider it one of the most beautiful countries I have visited in recent years. Apart from Cartagena and Medellín, where you encounter larger crowds of tourists, the rest of the country is barely known to Europeans and Americans. However, each year more foreign tourists are visiting the country – so if you’re planning a trip, do it sooner rather than later!
The people are extremely friendly and possess huge hearts. I was overwhelmed by the hospitality I’ve experienced. Even locals are beginning to rediscover their country after the many drug wars, which was not possible, especially in the south, for a long time.
I never felt threatened while exploring Colombia. With some common sense and the usual safety precautions I take on any trip, nothing happened.
I even started writing a book documenting my experiences with extended travelling breaks, and Colombia will be a chapter. Safety measures include both personal precautions and safeguarding belongings. Example: This also includes never making bookings over public Wi-Fi networks and, if necessary, only doing so with a VPN connection. Personally, I use Proton VPN, which also has a free version.
Upcoming Presentations
I know I’ve promised to share more about my travels and photography through presentations. Currently, I’m working hard in putting a presentation together about Colombia. Videography has taken on a significant role in documenting my experiences. To enhance my video editing skills, I’ve recently begun using the powerful tool, “DaVinci Resolve”.
Navigating this new software has been quite an adventure, and it’s taking me longer than anticipated to produce the videos.
Rest assured, I’ll keep you informed about upcoming presentations, although they may take a bit more time to materialize. BTW: DaVinci Resolve is free and can be downloaded here!
