[fancy_header type=”3″]The Mile-High City[/fancy_header]
This nickname was easy! Maybe because I lived there… I remember the first time going to Denver, I stayed at a hotel about 10 minutes driving from the airport. Of course I hit the bar and told my story that I am Swiss and it is the first time over here. The answer from the bartender was: Welcome to the mile-high city – here you are drunk faster!

Denver is a relatively small city, well compared to all the other cities in the United States. I am Swiss so every city is relatively big compared to cities in Switzerland…

I was driving from Kansas City to Denver in one shot. Way too long a drive! My idea was actually to stay in a hotel within between. But there was not really much. So I have decided to drive all the way to Denver. I made my reservations when I sopped to get a coffee. Honestly I just made some reservations in a hotel that was close to a park.
That is another thing I do when it comes to hotography: I use google maps to see where I go, in this scenario I googled “Denver”. If I see something interesting like in this situation a park, I go there to see if there is something interesting. Et voila:

And I also get to a location more than just one time because of the different light conditions. This time I was going there for sunrise (yes, that is very true) and sunset. To be honest, I was going to the same location also at night but the wind was too strong and therefore I had too much movement in the photograph…

On all the pictures I did the same camera settings:
- A-Mode
- Braketing enabled
- F-Stop between 7.1 and 22
- ISO: 100
Both the photographs with the sun have a high F-Stop to get that starburst effect…

In a few day I will come up with my next location on my big trip from New York to San Francisco! Where will it be?
