Make mistakes

14. December 2015

Mistakes I made

The techniques I use to post process my pictures are different and I have acquired them over years. When I started doing HRD processing I made many mistakes! Also I never took a course in Image post processing or photography (even if my dad is a pro photographer)…

My flickr account shows a history of my photography and how I (in my opinion) evolved: www.flickr.com/dietschvision

Only those that makes mistakes and tries out new things will get better. Of course the mistakes you make are sometimes not really clear from the very beginning but this is where friends will get in. By friends I mean friends that do not even understand what photography really means. Even in photography I think the 6 rules of Arnold Schwarzenegger apply:

1: Trust yourself

If you do not trust yourself, you will stop at anything you do. This goes for photography too, if you are not absolutely sure that your pictures are looking phenomenal, they won’t!

2: Break the rules

That is to me one of the definitions about innovation: Break the rules. Only of you break the rules your pictures became unique. Do what no one ever did before or do it different to became innovative.

3: Don’t be afraid to fail

If we fail, we learn to pick ourselves up! (Batman)
And this is very true because if we fail, we learn from these faults and do not do them again.

4: Ignore the naysayers

There will always be people out there saying that what you try to do does not work – I say no: If no one ever has tried that before that does not necessary mean it does not work!

5: Work like hell

Arnold Schwarzenegger spent a lot of time in the GYM. I just spent a lot of time sitting behind my camera and computer. While Schwarzenegger muscle grew, my competence of photography and post processing grew. The more time you spend at something, the better you get.

6: Give something back

This is what I am trying to do with this blog. I try to tell people what photography means to me and how I use the techniques. If you do not like my pictures, just do not take a look at them.

  • Do you want to learn photography?

Do it with me and jump over to my store. There are several eBooks and presets I have been working on over the past few years – no kidding, it took me quite some time to make all this happen! And I am still working on it, there is more to come!
