One of my good friends is a dietician and runs a blog. We had dinner once and she was asking me to send her photos of some food because she likes my kind of photography style and she could use it pretty good with her blog.
I was struggling because I am usually take landscape and cityscape photographs, I never did some food photography…
First, I thought of something way different when talking to a dietician. I thought of already prepared food.
To make photos of food that is already prepared, I never use an external light source, such as a flash. What I do is very simple (read that somewhere and it actually works):
First, I place my meal close to a window (natural light).
Second, I zoom in as much as I can with my lens.
Third, I rotate the camera by 45 degrees.
And then I take the photo.
No matter what I did, I could not find the proper food for my friend’s blog. The best photograph I did so far was my home made Spaghetti Bolognese – I do not think this is going to work as a blog post of a dietician…
In Portland another friend drove me around and we hit a farmers market – my idea was born to use those photos you see here in my post for the blog of a dietician!
