I currently share my recent road trip through southern France on social media! Starting from the scenic landscapes of Switzerland, I drove on an unforgettable journey to some of the most beautiful regions to the coast of South France.
My adventure began with a 5.5-hour drive from Switzerland to Avignon. This charming city, known for its historical significance and stunning architecture, was the perfect introduction to the beauty of southern France. After exploring Avignon’s narrow streets and iconic Palais des Papes, I continued my journey to Nimes. This city, rich in Roman history, offered a fascinating glimpse into ancient times with its well-preserved arena.
From Nimes, I drove to the coastal city of Marseille. As France’s second-largest city, Marseille is a bustling hub of culture and diversity.
I was captivated by its lively Vieux-Port (Old Port) and the stunning basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde, which offers panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. Along the coast, shortly after leaving Marseille, I took a photograph that for the blog post.
But the adventure didn’t end there! I headed to St. Trope – that I didn’t like at all. Next on the itinerary was Cannes, renowned for its prestigious film festival and elegant promenade, La Croisette.
My journey continued to Nice, before I went to Monaco and leaving France there.

Travel Tip
When planning a road trip, I recommend keeping your daily driving to no more than 4 hours to avoid exhaustion. This allows you to enjoy each destination fully without feeling rushed. However, when leaving Switzerland, I prepared for a longer first day of about 6 hours driving, as the nearby destinations I have already seen.
