A few years ago, I took a photo road trip across Cuba for almost 2 weeks. I started in Havana, and then went to all the beautiful places like Varadero, Santa Clara and Trinidad. After I visited Trinidad, I took the bus to drive back to Havana were my friend picked me up to drop me in the jungle. This is where I took this photograph but I do not remember the name of the place. What you see is the view out of the window in the hotel I was staying at.
Cuba is a very nice country to go see! But if you do not speak any Spanish, I whish you good luck! You will be better off talking German than English. You get around like I did with sometimes body language and some Spanish word I knew from movies. It just costs a little more Peso than it would cost another tourist speaking the local language.
One thing you certainly should do when you are in Cuba is hiring one of these old American Cars. You can see them everywhere, there is no special spot to go to. When you know somebody local, use those cars as taxis. There is no way you can do this as a tourist; I never really understood how to use them. First you have to know about where they drive and then without any conversation, you have to know how much to pay…
Quadcopter Tip:
Do not think of even bringing your quadcopter to Cuba! It is forbidden to import it! You should get it back when you exit the country but I would not bet on it! Usually when travelling I try to find out as much as I can about the flight regulation of the country I want to visit. I fly a DJI quadcopter and the App helps a lot to find out about the restrictions. There is also a section on the web were you can see about the flight regulations. I think I was lucky doing this because otherwise I would probably have returned with not quadcopter back to Switzerland…
