I was travelling to France lately when I made this nice black and white photograph. When I uploaded this to Facebook and Instagram, the photo came out way too dark! I was a little disappointed when seeing the result online – but what am I going to do? Correct, nothing… Due to the humongous amount of data Facebook and Instagram has to deal with, they compress the photos again after uploading. Since I use JPG as a format, the final result online is double compressed. JPG is a compressed file format. So, if Facebook or Instagram compressed it again, the photo will lose quality again.
However, here you see the version I finished working on a few days ago!
Photography Tip:
When taking day photos, I am almost certain that I will try black and white on them. The more high contrast and different light sources I have in the photo, the better it will turn out. On this photo I like the drama in the sky so much!
