“Behind the lens” is a post about the challenges during my stay in Hong Kong. From the moment of my arrival, rain became an unwelcome companion, persisting until my departure. The weather is one thing I cannot change when travelling. I have realized this before…
However, the weather is not a thing that keeps me from taking photos. So, I was walking the city and taking photos. The cool thing is in Hong Kong the pedestrian passages are covered. Literally you can get everywhere without getting wet.
I think it was back in 2017 when I have experienced bad weather everywhere I went.
I even had to cancel one of my photo walks in Bern due to heavy rain. I must have upset the weather gods somehow.
I came up with the idea to write a book about taking photos in the rain. If not me, then who else should have acquired this knowledge about staying dry during bad weather… It’s available over on my store.
If you are staying behind the lens, just make sure you and your camera will stay dry!
Photography Tip
There are two aspects of the rain that I particularly appreciate. Firstly, the rain provides a serene atmosphere for my photos since it tends to keep people indoors, resulting in fewer people in my photographs.
Secondly, the beauty of reflections becomes pronounced during rainfall. The lights from various sources get reflected on the water’s surface. A simple puddle can transform into a perfect canvas, allowing me to capture images of reflections, adding a unique and artistic dimension to my photography.
Happy Birthday to my niece!!!
May all your wishes come true!
