Chicago early in the morning

28. September 2018

I was looking into black and white photo processing after I went to an art store that inspired me so much!

I like the hard contrast in a photograph that some of the artists create in their world.

I post processed this photograph in Adobe Lightroom.
So, first I played around as usual with Highlights, Shadows, Whites and Blacks until I liked the photo. Then, in the Basic Tab in the upper right corner, I pushed the “Black and White” button. I added a lot of Contrast and increased the amount of Exposure (but not too much).
To darken the sky and the street, I used Graduated Filters on both the areas. I also decreased the Exposure. To bring back some lights (look at the tall building and the reflection of the lamps, I used Radial Filters where I increased the amount of Exposure.

  • Do you want to learn photography?

Do it with me and jump over to my store. There are several eBooks and presets I have been working on over the past few years – no kidding, it took me quite some time to make all this happen! And I am still working on it, there is more to come!
