I have an immense preference for the West Coast including the Oregon coastline! During my recent visit, I captured some breathtaking aerial footage from Oregon coastline. One of my favorite snapshots was taken during my drive from Portland to San Francisco. If I were to return, retracing that stunning coastal route would undoubtedly be on my agenda. The Oregon Coast stands as a pinnacle of the Pacific Northwest’s beauty, which is truly saying something considering the region’s wealth of natural beauty.
Portland and San Francisco serve as my chosen points of entry and exit due to their convenient airports.
My journey started in Switzerland, boarding a Swiss International Airlines flight bound for San Francisco — a direct 12-hour flight. Following a delightful two-day stay, I hopped on a flight to PDX, Portland. While Portland isn’t situated directly on the Oregon Coast, it’s close enough to kick off the coastal exploration; roughly a two-hour drive lands you amidst its stunning landscape. Renting a car was essential for me to travel this breathtaking coastline, as there’s no viable public transportation unlike what I’m used to in Switzerland.
Photography Tip: Drone Photography
Whenever I use a quadcopter for photography, I aim for capturing multiple shots to create panoramic photographs.
There are automatic settings at the DJI products that will manage the job for you automatically. Of you have to take all the photos manually, just make sure that there is an overlay of about 30% between every photo.
This technique enables me to trim away unwanted elements, resulting in expansive photos exceeding the quadcopter lens’s capabilities. Post-processing and retouching are done using Adobe Lightroom.
