The equipment I (sometimes) take with me
In an earlier post I told you what tools (including the camera) I bring when I get to travel. This post does more focus on the camera equipment like the body and the lens I bring for my travel photography.
The camera(s)
I own two cameras:
- – Nikon D610
- – Sony A7R
You may ask yourself why qoning two cameras? I sometimes do the same… The D610 has a great value to me because the wide angle lens I bought! The 14-24 F2.8 is the best lens I have ever worked with!
On the other hand the A7R has the better image and probably the better dynamic range than the D610.
So, I am kind of stuck between two systems and do not really want to get rid of one. Both systems have their advantage and disadvantage. The advantage of the Nikon system is for sure the easy handeling of the settings while the advantage of the Sony systems is in its wheight. There are many reasons to me keeping both the cameras.
The biggest disadvantage this situation brings: I carry two camera systems thru the word – but this is my problem…
The lenses
Nikon 14-24mm
I love that lens! It is wide open and has fantastic characteristics! When I go to a city I usually bring this lens with me.
Sony 24-70mm
Not so much for this lens! I usually use this lens for landscape photography and (belive it or not) portait photography. This lens is a very cool mid-range lens, not too expensive and is a perfect balance for my Nikon system lens.
Fun stuff (that I sometimes bring)
I did buy a quadcopter and crashed it already a couple of times… It is fun to fly! The DJI Phantom has a gopro adapter on it and is very easy to fly. The gopro camera has its disadvantage to only make JPG pictures. Since I do a lot of post processing to my images, there is not much I can do to them…
The fun with the Phantom lies in the flying and not so much in the post processing of the images 🙂
